April 28 - In Dayton, Ohio Mr. Irwin jumps from an airplane carrying a parachute designed by the U.S. Army Corp. and makes the first successful parachute jump.

August 11 - Steel magnate and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie dies leaving millions of dollars to various charities.
August 14 - A U.S. aeromarine flying boat carries the first air mail delivery at sea.
September 9 - Almost the entire police force of the city of Boston goes on strike to protest the Police Commissioner's refusal to recognize their newly formed union. It is the first time in American History that a major city is basically without police protection and President Calvin Coolidge proclaims that: "There is no right to strike against the public safety by anybody, anywhere, any time.
September 22 - A steel strike in the U.S. lasts until January 20.
September 25 - President Woodrow Wilson is paralyzed by a stroke.
October 19 - The American Consul for Mexico, W. O. Jenkins, is kidnapped by Mexican banditos and held for ransom.
October 26 - President Wilson vetoes the Prohibition Enforcement Bill, but the two Houses vote over his veto and adopt the bill.
